Matthew Drake is a Vice President in the downtown Chicago office of Prairie Capital Advisors. Mr. Drake represents boards of directors, management, trustees and shareholders of middle market companies on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), ESOP advisory, capital formation and other investment banking transactions. Matt has advised on over 50 transactions and over 200 corporate valuations during his career. Mr. Drake’s clients represent a broad range of industries including but not limited to architecture, engineering & construction (AEC), biofuels & renewables, consulting, distribution, environmental services, food and beverage, manufacturing, and oil & gas.
Matt is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences on topics such as ownership transition and ESOPs. He is an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), and The ESOP Association. He is also active in the community with both local and national charitable organizations.
Prior to joining Prairie Capital Advisors, Mr. Drake was a Senior Manager in Corporate Development at Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:REGI), a global biofuels and renewable chemicals producer. At REGI, Mr. Drake was a member of the corporate team that led financing, strategy, and merger & acquisition decisions. At Renewable Energy Group, Mr. Drake executed over $500 million of capital raising and merger and acquisition activity, including the company’s first European acquisition.
Before working at Renewable Energy Group, Mr. Drake was a Senior Associate at Prairie Capital Advisors, Inc. where he assisted middle market companies and their shareholders with mergers and acquisitions, ESOP advisory and other investment banking transactions.
Mr. Drake holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Iowa. Mr. Drake currently holds FINRA Series 79 and 63 securities licenses.
