John Lavin joined Prairie in 2024 and brings nearly 20 years of experience in the financial industry, with expertise in managing M&A transactions, capital advisory and business development to drive advisory engagements and growth opportunities. At Prairie, John leads business development and transaction execution for middle-market privately held companies seeking ownership transition and for large corporate clients seeking divestitures. As a trusted advisor, John navigates clients through the full lifecycle of business ownership transition, the exploration of strategic alternatives and structuring considerations, and other special situations. John is deeply involved in all aspects of the transaction to meet the client’s objectives and drive value creation.
Before joining Prairie, Mr. Lavin worked in various roles at Gemspring Capital LLC, Lincoln International, and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management. He is currently a Managing Director, board member, and advisor with William Gabriel Capital (“WGC”) and William Gabriel Auto (“WGA”).
John Lavin earned a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois’ Gies School of Business, a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Creighton University. John currently holds FINRA Series 7, 9/10, 66, 31 and 79 licenses.
