Dick Shuma joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2016 and is a shareholder in the firm. He co-leads Prairie’s Capital Markets Practice, leveraging his over 35 years of experience to advise clients on optimizing their capital structure, planning for future capital needs, and sourcing financing for strategic projects and growth objectives. Additionally, Dick has been instrumental in developing Prairie’s employee stock ownership plan (“ESOP”) sell-side practice.
Throughout his career, Dick has represented both corporate and investment banking disciplines by leading and participating in a wide range of traditional and leveraged financings, strategic advisory engagements, buy and sell-side merger and acquisition (“M&A”) engagements and various other capital raising engagements. For over a decade, he has focused his advisory work heavily on the ESOP as a transition vehicle.
Dick is a frequent speaker within the ESOP community and has been featured as a guest lecturer and panelist in the corporate finance, valuation and M&A disciplines at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, DePaul University, The Loyola University Family Business Center, The Entrepreneurship Institute and many other related organizations. Dick also serves on the Programming Committee of the Illinois ESOP Chapter.
