Gregory Cook joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2014 and is a shareholder in the firm. He specializes in advising middle-market companies on financial opinions, mergers and acquisitions ("M&A"), employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), corporate planning and other investment banking advisory services. Greg is responsible for providing project management services, corporate valuations and related transaction analyses in support of fairness opinions, capital structuring engagements (including ESOP implementation), leveraged recapitalizations, management buyouts (MBO), M&A and other related corporate finance purposes. He leads and is instrumental in developing Prairie’s Fairness Opinion practice and is the Chair of Prairie’s Technical Committee.
Greg is a frequent speaker on topics including fairness opinions, special committees, valuation and ESOP transactions. In addition, in 2018, Greg was recognized as a Top 40 Under Forty Honoree by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). Further, he received the America’s Top Rising Star award from M&A Atlas in 2019.
Prior to joining Prairie, Greg was a Vice President at Duff & Phelps in the transaction opinions group. Through his tenure, Greg worked on a variety of engagements including fairness opinions, solvency opinions, business valuation, ESOP advisory and other complex financial analyses. In addition, Greg was employed as a Strategic Consultant at Humana Inc. His duties included business development, lead generation, financial modeling and buy-side execution relating to the acquisition of key strategic opportunities in the Chicagoland area. The majority of his experience was concentrated on financial analysis and transaction execution in the healthcare industry.
Greg holds a Master of Science degree in Finance, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Greg currently holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
