Companies in the U.S. metal forming industry fabricate a variety of metal products out of ferrous and nonferrous metals—such as steel, titanium, copper, brass, aluminum and various alloys—by utilizing processes such as cutting, stamping, welding, punching, bending, laser cutting, roll forming and coil processing. These products are then used by industrial companies in automobiles, planes, computers, appliances and machinery. According to industry intelligence firm First Research, the metal forming industry consists of approximately 55,000 companies with combined annual revenue of $340.0 billion.
