Managing Director
Daniel Callanan joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2019. He is a seasoned valuation professional, having advised privately-held and publicly-traded companies on valuation and other financial matters for nearly 30 years. Dan has performed business valuation and financial advisory services for publicly-held and private companies for numerous purposes including financial reporting; employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs); estate and gift tax matters; fairness opinions; solvency opinions; buy/sell agreements; marital, partnership and shareholders disagreements and dissolutions; minority dissenters rights actions; C to S corporation conversions; internal shareholder transactions; SBA and Regulation 9 (OCC) compliance; and other corporate tax and restructuring related matters. He is also on the Valuation Advisory Committee of The ESOP Association.
Dan has lectured on various aspects of corporate finance and business valuation for the Ohio State Bar Association, The ESOP Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership and the Smart Business Dealmakers Conference (formerly ASPIRE). In addition, Dan has taught at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, Capital University Law School in Columbus, OH, and DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Dan has also testified as an expert witness in the U.S. Tax Court as well as various district courts across the nation.
Prior to joining Prairie, Dan was a Managing Director at Western Reserve Valuation, a division of Citizens Bank. He has also held positions at Comstock Advisors, JP Morgan/Chase, Willamette Management Associates and Arthur Andersen & Co.
Dan holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Managerial Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management from DePauw University. Dan currently holds FINRA Series 63 and 79 securities licenses.
